CORONA is not a laughing matter – The lighter side – 4

CORONA is not a laughing matter – The lighter side – 4

We need to fight the Corona Virus with foresight and determination. It was reiterated by PM Narendra Modi today, April 3, in his video message to the ‘Janta Janardhan’ of India in his 3rd or 4th public address in a fortnight. There is alternative but to stand together and give support to our leadership while maintaining the

much needed ‘Social Distancing’ – the “Rambaan” to fight the menace of virus as described by PM Modi. Let us light the ‘Lamp of Hope’ on April 5 at 9 in the evening for 9 minutes to express and demonstrate solidarity among ourselves as advised by our leader.

The disturbing incidents of attacks/violence against the frontline warriors like the doctors, nurses, para-medical staff, safai karamcharis, police etc. should stop immediately. The opinion makers including the media should be mindful and should not give communal colour to such unfortunate happenings. The Dharmgurus have a special responsibility to advise their followers to behave. It is a national emergency and a human tragedy. Let us fight the war against the virus calmly while sitting at home. The Punjabi way of Quarantine is well explained by Chitra and Jagjit in a Punjabi song (Tappe):

Kothe Te aa Mahia; Milna Tan Mil Ake;
Nahin Tan Khasmma Nu Kha Mahia!
Oh ki lena-e mitran ton; Milan ta aa jaban,
Dar lagda-e shitran ton.

The term ‘Social distancing’ is much in use with regard to Corona virus. We Punjabis are good to explain the things on their own. A rustic Punjabi asked what is this ‘Social Distancing’? It was explained as “Tan-Doori” by a smart one by saying that keep physical distance while eating Tandoori chicken. My son Rupesh has sent yet another Punjabi gem on the social distancing, “Villagers in Punjab are still wondering who the hell is Social Distan Singh?” One of my diplomatic colleagues and friends, Ambassador Zile Singh made a good comment on my one of the blogs on the subject which I quote “Good. It has been rightly said, "Hanste hanste marna sheeko. Rote rote jeena. Kam se kam garibon ka khyal Cro Na."

Now is the time to come to the positive side of the emerging situation due to lockdown. The nature has its own way. There are reports that now the snow clad mountains of Himachal are visible
from Jalandhar because the sky is clear. There is no pollution in the atmosphere. Great but how long it will remain? This photo was sent by one of my Facebook friend, Ajay Kaul. The other day my daughter Vaishali sent me yet another take on the subject giving the message on the other positive side effect of the deadly virus. I reproduce as ‘Food for Thought’ –

TRAFFIC is gone. 🚥 🚘
GAS is affordable. 🚗
BILLS are extended. 💸💵
KIDS are at home with their FAMILIES.👨👩👧
PARENTS are home taking care of their CHILDREN. 👩👩👦👦👨👨👧👦💕
FAST FOOD replaced by HOME COOKED MEALS, hectic SCHEDULES replaced by NAPS. 🍌🍎🍅🛌😪
The AIR seems CLEANER, the WORLD QUIETER. 🌅🌊🌏🌤
PEOPLE are conscious about HYGIENE and HEALTH again. 🛀🚿🏃🏋
WE finally listen to authorities and head home when they say so. 👮💂🕵
MONEY doesn't seem to make the WORLD GO ROUND anymore. 💹💴💲
WE now have TIME🕰
And Finally, WE become more closer to GOD & more evidently praising him every day of our LIVES.⛪🎵🎶🎺🕊🙏🙏
It seems like this COVID-19 is a RESET BUTTON for HUMANITY!
