Man Changa To Kathoti Mein Ganga

Man Changa To Kathoti Mein Ganga

In his Bani, Guru Ravidass said – Man Changa To Kathoti Mein Ganga – There is no need to go anywhere for worship or pilgrimage, It can be done while sitting at home, if one is pious and clean from within. These days, social media and political circles in Punjab and UP are over-flowing with Guru Ravidass with regard to his 650th

Gurpurab falling in February, 2027. The year 2026-2027 is dedicated to the great Guru for his sterling contribution to propagate and establish a Casteless Society and Equitable World Order based on the lofty ideals of – Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity to realize his vision of Begumpura Shehar – the City without sorrow and misery. Obviously, the followers of Guru Ravidass and all fair minded people are delighted to celebrate the Gurpurab with all solemnity and reverence and rightly so.

But my immediate motivation to write about this emanates from the ongoing political connotations being imparted to the solemn occasion by the political parties to carry forward their political agenda. BJP has taken the matter to new heights by unleashing its IT machinery and ‘Money Power’ as if they have found a ‘Vote Catching’ net in the

Guru and his legacy. No one should, prima facie, object to it. But the modus oprandi being adopted seems suspect and fishy. I thought of sharing my take on the subject for the benefit of both the political enthusiasts and the followers of Guru Ravidass including the Ravidassia Deras which have been dragged into the machinations of the vested interests.

Guru Ravidass was a non-conformist who did not believe in excessive Hindu rituals as depicted in his Bani and personal conduct. The followers of Guru Ravidass were expecting the ruling elite to announce a roadmap of the celebrations of the great guru in a befitting manner and some of them put forward various suggestions too in this regard. But instead of the GOI announcing something substantive to celebrate the 650th Gurpurab left the initiative to BJP with a view to encash the occsin at the ‘Vote Banks’ to strengthen

their hold in the forthcoming elections in Punjab and UP – Samrasta Sankalap Abhian - Kalsh Yatra etc. With the explicit or hidden  blessings of Dera Sachkhand Ballan, the Abhian started on July 29, 2026 from Seer Goverdhanpur (Kashi-Banaras) and will conclude on February 20, 2027 at Seer Goverdhanpur itself. The whole media is agog with the visuals of mighty CMs and BJP bigwigs carrying Kalshas on their heads and reaching out to the Ravidassia Mandirs/Gurdawaras/Dhams and other public places. I being a proponent of Samrasta myself, I will be failing in my duty, if I don’t share here the negative fallout of the so called Samrasta Sankalap Abhian and the Kalsha Yatra – first, it does not commensurate well with the teachings and philosophy of Guru Ravidass. The Kalsh

Yatras are better taken to Hindu Mandirs and other spiritual destinations and not to Guru Ravidass Mandirs alone as rightly suggested by one of my friends, Manohar Mahey, a prominent community activist and others in an informal brainstorming sitting the other day.  Moreover, the mindset of Ravidassias and the community at large do not conform to the Hindu rituals as a rebellion against the oppressive conduct of the so called Upper castes due to historical background of centuries. One may or may not agree with this but it is the ground reality. The Gen – Z of the Ravidassias is not interested in Samrasta in the caste based hierarchy. They are the claimants of ‘Equality’ as stakeholders with their own identity. The need of the day is that we should reconcile Samrasta with Samanta. The sooner we understand is better. The socio-political leadership of the country

must see the writings on the wall and come up with a concrete roadmap to celebrate the Gurpurab as a befitting tribute to the great Guru. Guru Ravidass Mandir at Tuglakabad in Delhi is an emotive issue for the community and must be resolved to empower the community. The adjoining lands of Seer Goverdhanpur Mandir – birthplace of Guru Ravidass and the lands in the vicinity should be acquired and used to preserve the legacy of the Guru. Some of the other suggestions made and submitted to GOI and BJP are again listed below for ready reference with the hope that these are considered and decided instead of harping on the optics of the ongoing Samrasta Sankalap Abhian before it gets late. -

The following suggestions may be considered and made with regard to the programme –

· National Function on the Guru Ravidass Jyanti in 2027 at Seer Goverdhanpur, the birth place of the great Guru at Varanasi.

· Functions at important places pertaining to Guru Ravidass and his legacy like – Dera Sachkhand Ballan at Jalandhar and Charan Cho-Ganga at Khuralgarh in Hoshiarpur in Punjab, Guru Ravidass Temple at Tuglakabad in Delhi, Ravidass Chattri at Chittorgarh in Rajasthan, Sarnath/Budh Gaya in Bihar, Ahmedabad in Gujrat, Chennai in Tamil Nadu among others

· Issuing of Commemorative Postal Stamp and Coins.

· Inclusion of Guru’s Vani and socio-cultural message of Guru Ravidass in the syllabus and curricula of Schools and Colleges.

· All Universities should host functions to celebrate the 650th year of Guru’s Parkash Utsav appropriately.

· All schools and colleges should be advised to celebrate the occasion suitably.

· Establish Guru Ravidass Study Chairs at Banaras Hindu University at Varanasi, Guru Nanak Dev University at Amritsar, Panjab University at Chandigarh among others.

· Discussions and Debates on Guru Ravidass on Doordarshan

· Advise and direct all Indian Diplomatic Missions in the countries where members of the Ravidassia community are concentrated like the UK, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Austria, Germany, and Italy among others.

· Special programmes on Guru Ravidass by the socio-cultural outfits like RSS, SGPC, Beas Satsang, Nirankari Satsang, Swaminarayan (Akshardham) among others, Chaitanya Prabhu outfits among others.

The 650th Gurpurab of Guru Ravidass – Solemn Celebrations

The 650th Gurpurab of Guru Ravidass – Solemn Celebrations

It is a matter of gratification to note that BJP has announced a roadmap to celebrate and observe the 650th Gurpurab of Guru Ravidass from July 29, 2026, on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, to February 20, as pronounced by MP Tarun Chugh in the video clip:

MP Tarun Chugh at Seer Goverdhanpur

https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1Ax4SBkU5S/

I appreciate the initiative taken by the BJP. But it is a matter of regret and concern that GOI is yet to take any substantive step to celebrate and observe the 650th Gurpurab of the great Guru. I had submitted some suggestions/proposal to the GOI/BJP in this regard which may be seen in my blog:

https://diplomatictitbits.blogspot.com/.../guru-ravidass...

The blog includes the following roadmap:

I. GOI may appoint a High Power Committee of Ministers, highly placed bureaucrats, spiritual leaders of Ravidassia community, Ravidassia intelligentsia (Budhijivis) and others from the society at large.

II. The High Power Committee of the GOI will formulate and draw

up suitable programme to celebrate and commemorate the 650th Parkash Utsav and the Year 2027 as a befitting tribute to the life, philosophy and Legacy of Guru Ravidass.

The following suggestions may be considered and made with regard to the programme –

· National Function on the Guru Ravidass Jyanti in 2027 at Seer Goverdhanpur, the birth place of the great Guru at Varanasi.

· Functions at important places pertaining to Guru Ravidass and his legacy like – Dera Sachkhand Ballan at Jalandhar and Charan Cho-Ganga at Khuralgarh in Hoshiarpur in Punjab, Guru Ravidass Temple at Tughlakabad in Delhi, Ravidass Chattri at Chittorgarh in Rajasthan, Sarnath/Budh Gaya in Bihar, Ahmedabad in Gujrat, Chennai in Tamil Nadu among others

My humble request to BJP and GOI is that kindly consider the matter seriously with sincerity. The stakeholders abroad are also interested in celebrating and observing the Gurpurab in a befitting matter. The British Ravidassia Heritage Foundation (BRHF) of UK wrote to me on the subject. In turn, I requested the Indian High Commissioner in London to kindly join hands with the followers of Guru Ravidass in this regard. My E-mail message to the High Commissioner may be seen below:

Quote

For High Commissioner P. Kumaran

Dear Kumaran Sahib,

First of all, congratulations on your coveted assignment in London. I wish you all the best.

I am one of your retired colleagues of 1984 (YOA) now settled in Jalandhar with a view to join the crowd and do some community work humbly.

Kindly see the forwarded message of my friend and associate Sat Paul, President of British Ravidassia Heritage Foundation (BRHF) with regard to the celebrations of the 650th Gurpurab of Guru Ravidass ji, a harbinger of equality, fraternity and justice and a leading light of the Bhakti Movement of 15th centenary. You are aware a large chunk of

With the BRHF Seniors

the Indian diaspora in the UK is the followers of Guru Ravidass represented by the outfits like BRHF among others. They are observing and commemorating the 650th birth anniversary of the revered Guru in all solemnity and joy. The GOI under the leadership of Hon'ble PM Narendra Modi has pronounced to celebrate the Gurpurab year 2027 in a befitting way to pay tributes to the great Guru and to enforce the lofty ideals of Bhaichara and Samrasta in the society as enshrined in Constitution of India. It would only be good and appropriate to join hands with BRHF and others to make suitable programme and events to celebrate the Gurpurab of Guru Ravidass.

I am confident, Kumaran Sahib, that you will consider and respond to the submissions of BRHF as the flag bearer of India and its culture in the UK. Here in India, we have already submitted our proposals to GOI in this regard. We hope that you would soon listen from GOI (MEA/PMO) too.

I have endorsed a copy of this message to MBE Sat Paul. He would get in touch with you on listening from your high office.

With personal regards,

(Ramesh Chander)

Stop this non-sense – Request to the so called General Samaj

Stop this non-sense – Request to the so called General Samaj

I am, these days, increasingly getting perturbed and anguished with a planned and organised campaign to disturb the social fabric of the society by some mindless anti-social elements in the name of the so called General Samaj (Upper castes in the caste ridden society). Of late, in the wake of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJI) protests at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, this campaign to oppose, negate, condemn the affirmative provisions of Reservations has been started on the social media by the vested interests. These posts are hosted on the social media like Facebook, Instagram etc. in the name of some of factitious outfits and individuals. The language used is not only derogatory but also uncivilized and malicious. The mysterious and surprising aspect of all this is that these are supported and commented upon by the cadres of BJP and RSS under the guise

of non-existent forums or platforms. I write this candidly as I know personally some of the worthies involved in this non-sense.  It is an organized crime against the society, to my mind and this non-sense must stop forthwith.

I don’t know what they want to prove. Yet another surprising element in this is that the so called Thekedars of the society; particularly those who profess to bring about Samrasta in the society are blissfully silent. These enemies of the society must understand that now ‘Cockroaches’ are fully ready to stand and give them a befitting answer. I know the resultant situation might lead to ‘Grammar of Anarchy’ as warned by none else but by Babasaheb Ambedkar. Earlier also it was observed that the same anti-social and mischievous elements, of course supported by the Manuwadi Vivastha, started a nefarious campaign that Babasaheb Ambedkar

was not the architect of the Indian Constitution. It was written by B.N. Rau. These disturbing elements pick up any such irrelevant issue and spread hatred and disharmony in the society – This Non-Sense must stop forthwith. I repeat. I have not quoted anything to support my narration as the social media is full of the Bon-sense.

Gandhi and Ambedkar come alive at Jantar Mantar

Gandhi and Ambedkar come alive at Jantar Mantar

The on-going students’ protests at Jantar Mantar are the burning subject throughout the country and beyond. The immediate cause of these protests is the issue of paper leaks, systemic flaws in the educational policies and establishment, and above all, the perceived indifference and high headedness of the GOI in handling the situation. The newly formed socio-political outfit, Cockroach Janta
Party (CJP) under the stewardship of Abhijeet Dipke and his associates namely Sonam Wangchuk among others are spearheading the protests for the last two months or so. Sonam Wangchuk with some students started an indefinite hunger strike to press their demands including resignation of the Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan. The political parties in the opposition are, obviously, supporting the protests to corner the government led by PM Narendra Modi as expected in the democratic procedures and norms. The things came to head on July 20, the first day of the Monsoon Session of the parliament, with the ‘Sansad Chalo’ call of the organizers of the students’ protests. In spite of the fact that the organisers of the protest professed to go about peacefully to exercise

their democratic right to register their protest and reiterate their demands, it turned violent with the alleged excessive use of force by the police and other security paraphernalia on one hand and the alleged violence by the students and some said to be anti-social elements penetrated the protests. All these details are fully available in the public domain both in the print and electronic media. There is no point in repeating or harping on this.

My motivation to write on the subject emanated from the comments and assessments made by some of the political pandits and analysts like; Ashutosh among others in the debates on TV channels and some stakeholders in the public through social media – With these protests, both Mahatma Gandhi and Babasaheb Ambedkar have come alive as

a living voice which gave their message directly – the message of
peaceful resistance of Mahatma Gandhi and that of Babasaheb Ambedkar; freedom of expression with a sense of expression of freedom as Gyansheel citizens. One of my friends who follows these developments closely telephoned to underline the relevance of Babasaheb in the days to come in streamlining the march of Bharat to its destination - Vikshit Bharat.  From the day one of the protests at Jantar Mantar, the portrait of Babasaheb Ambedkar adorns the stage and ‘Jai Bhim’ resonates in the air. Both in the august chambers and the precincts of the imposing Parliament House’ Mahatma Gandhi and Babasaheb Ambedkar are quoted both by the Government and the Opposition. Obviously it spreads to Jantar Mantar in the vicinity and elates the mood and resolve of ‘We the people of India’ on one hand and cajoles the Government to uphold the letter and spirit of the constitution in handling these issues of interest and concern with utmost sincerity and constitutional and human morality. Let us not usher ourselves to the ‘Grammar of Anarchy’ as warned by Babasaheb Ambedkar in his last speech in the Constituent Assembly on November 25, 1949. It is a matter of gratification to note that the GOI and the Protesters led by CJP are engaged in talks and dialogue to end the logjam. Sonam Wangchuk has ended his fast after assurances from the GOI. I take this opportunity to wish the on-going talks to succeed and the caravan of Bharat is not derailed – Bharat needs both Gandhi and Ambedkar; it is for sure.

Rulata Hai Tera Nazara Ae Hinduston! Mujh Ko
Ke Ibrat Khaiz Hai Tera Fasana Sub Fasanon Mein

Your spectacle makes me shed tears, O India!
Your tales are admonitory among all the tales

Tailpiece:-

Congratulations. GOI has accepted the demands of the protesters led by CJP. The agitation has been withdrawn. It has been announced at a joint press conference of GOI Ministers; JP Nadda and Jatinder Singh and CJI representatives; Gaurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. Der Ayat Darust Ayat. Abhijeet Dipke has commented – Dunia jhukti hai; Jhukane wala Chahie.

Read the writings on the wall – Disappointment among Dalits

Read the writings on the wall – Disappointment among Dalits

One may observe that in a short span of a month or so, I have written several blogs on Punjab politics and Dalits and also related issues. Whereas the concerned authorities and agencies are blissfully silent and seems ignorant; it appears that Dalits; followers of Guru Ravidass an Babasaheb Ambedkar are

increasingly getting restive and are completely disappointed, if I go by the comments I got on my blogs. One may also say that I am getting unduly obsessive on these matters as the wheel of time does not stop –

Meri Ada Ko Dabana To Khair Mumkin Hai

Magar Nai Jamani Ki Awaaz Kaun Rokega

The ruling elites with whom I tried to interact with a view to reach the corridors of power in Delhi with regard to the two issues of which no one has taken any note of my submissions, it seems. My last blog will give you some detailed information: https://diplomatictitbits.blogspot.com/2026/07/focus-on-punjab-pm-narendra-modi-comes.html

PM Narendra Modi’s visit and speech in Jalandhar on July 17 utterly failed to address the issues. We are at loss to understand the thinking and strategy of the ruling elite with regard to the Dalit constituencies. The spiritual Deras like Sachkhand Dera of Ballan and others are important centers of power, no
doubt, but the enlightened intelligentsia who generally reads me and understand the issues as awakened stakeholders are to finally decide and give much needed direction in the days to come. They are watching the situation and on goings with a quiet interest.  I wrote on the Facebook Handle of PM Narendra Modi where he shared his photos with Sant Niranjan Dass ji of Dera Sachkhand Ballan at the inauguration of train to Kashi Barares at Jalandhar Cantt. Railway Station on July 17: -

“Thanks Hon'ble PM Sahib. You invoked Guru Ravidas:s name thrice in your speech in Jalandhar today but it was short of the crux. The followers of Guru Ravidas and Babasaheb Ambedkar were disappointed. You should have come out of 'sweet nothings' and said something concrete about the 650th Gurpurab of the great Gurus and about the International Day of Equality. It is getting too late. I tried to sensitize the BJP about this. But I don't think they could gather courage to brief about the ground realities. I am sorry to say. Jai Bharat.

Here I share some assorted comments from my readers and friends (without mentioning their names) from which one may draw one’s own conclusion to read the writings on the wall.

-      Sir,
it is against their ideology. How can they do so? If they truly believe in the teachings of Sant Guru Ravidass Ji and in the principles of love for humanity, liberty, equality, and justice, then they must take meaningful and constructive steps for the welfare and upliftment of the community—not merely announce the name of a train after Sant Guru Ravidass Ji.

Our people have long been expecting concrete measures such as better educational opportunities, employment, social justice, protection of constitutional rights, and the development of institutions that genuinely empower the weaker sections of society. Symbolic gestures alone cannot fulfill the aspirations of the community.

-     - Former Ambassador Hon'ble Ramesh Chander ji always remained optimistic about the Prime Minister of India Shri Narinder Modi and the RSS. But they never gave concrete results for the benefits of Scheduled Castes. The request of Shri Ramesh Chander ji endorsed by various Scheduled Caste, Buddhist and many other Dalit Organizations to declare the birthday of Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar (14 April) as 'International Day of Equality' is lying in the PMO , in the office of Ministry of External Affairs and Home Affairs since more than 10 years. Shri Ramesh Chander Ji is giving reminders and following up constantly to the concerned authorities. There are currently 131 Members of Parliament (MPs) belonging to SC/ST communities in the Lok Sabha but nobody bothers. We had great hopes that the PM Shri Modi ji will announce and declare the birthday of Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar (14 April) as 'International Day of Equality', when he came Jalandhar to inaugurate Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station on 17th July, 2026 but nothing except sweet-nothings. Now this is it, Hope sustains life.

-      Can’t expect anything worthwhile. Let’s keep in mind their approach towards the poor and the downtrodden. Nothing could be expected from the conservative, reactionary , retrograde and unprogressive people. Best wishes, sir.

-      Don't expect anything except promises. You have vast experience of life with these people.

-      A cordial request to SC leaders close to Modi ji: Request Modi to declare Baba Sahib's birthday as 'National Equality Day'.

-      They are not taking us serious at all. Won't get any substantial benefit except lollypop---

-      Thanks for favour of information and the innate interest taken by you by conveying the much- needed requirement of attaching due importance to our spiritual and international level only revered ICON in the larger interest of the community. It matters little whether your assertion has received the due attention and had the desired effect despite having been brought to the notice of adequately high- level BJP stalwarts closest to the PM...Well done. Highly appreciate your deep concern and consistent stand..

-      Great sir and Hats off to you .You are pride of the community. I pray to God for your long and healthy life.

-      Good. Punjab leadership didn't mention all this. Appreciate your views.

-      ਦਲਿਤ ਹਿੱਤਕਾਰੀ ਕੋਈ ਠੋਸ ਨੀਤੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ ਜੀ

-      Good 👍

-      In BJP, nobody has the courage to say anything to P.M. Your good self is doing a great job to remind the concerned authorities. Thank you very much. Regards

-      Great heartfelt response. One doesn't expect any meaningful response.

-      We should not expect miracle. BJP is concerned with our votes only.. During the last 12 years, no special drive was conducted for the Govt jobs. Rather our rights are being weakened. The Constitution is being followed for election only.. Anyhow this is a govt. of the day, we should hope for the best.

-      Thanks Description: 🙏 Ramesh ji, you are doing good job.

-      Not only one day but let all days of the year bring equality on earth.

-      RSS is not programmed to respect anything or anyone that does not fall to their thoughts and machinations. What made you think that they will follow your advice or suggestions?

-

While more comments are being received, it is becoming all the more evident that the coming scenario will be intensely interesting and decisive with regard to the Dalit vote banks and the Dalit
issues. The concerned authorities sitting in chairs of authority and decision making should not be oblivious of the ground realities. I conclude with an Urdu couplet of Allma Iqbal –

Mujhe Raaz-e-Do Alam Dil Ka Aaeena Dikhata Hai
Wohi Kehta Hun Jo Kuch Samne Aankhon Ke Ata Hai
(My heart’s mirror shows me both world’s secrets
I relate exactly what I witness before my eyes)

Focus on Punjab - PM Narendra Modi comes again

Focus on Punjab - PM Narendra Modi comes again

PM Narendra Modi at Dera SAchkhand Ballan
PM Narendra Modi is coming to Jalandhar again on July 17. One cannot understand the focus of BJP on Punjab in view of the forthcoming elections. “This will be the Prime Minister's second visit to Jalandhar in the past five months. During his previous visit in February, he had visited Dera Sachkhand Ballan to call on the Dera head and Ravidassia leader Sant
Niranjan Das, who has recently been honoured with a Padma Shri.” – it has been reported in the Tribune today, July 15. I thought of revisiting and flagging the issues of interest and concern to Dalits of Punjab and beyond and solicit the kind attention of the Hon’ble PM as, to my mind, Dalits are not pleased with the ‘sweet nothings’ and are eagerly waiting to listen from the horse’s mouth on the two important matters:-

1.  Guru Ravidass’s 650th Gurpurb in Febraury 2027 – GOI are still to announce the road-map and the details of the celebrations as promised and expected too.

2.  April 14, birthday of Babasaheb Ambedkar, as International Day of Equality under the aegis of UN. The proposal is resting with GOI (MEA/PMO) since July, 2015.

My recent blog on the subject would provide more details of our submissions:- https://diplomatictitbits.blogspot.com/2026/06/letter-to-bjp-president-samrasta-agenda.html

I have been writing and reminding the concerned, both in GOI and the BJP, religiously.  But I regret to add that as of now there is no positive response in this regard. The followers of Guru Ravidass and Babasaheb Ambedkar are resting perturbed and restive, in my cursory assessment. The ruling elite would ignore this at its own peril.

Ik Tarje Tugafil Hai; So Weh Unko Mubarak,

IK Arje Tamann Hai; Who Hum Karte Rahenge.
